Silwer Akker Frail Care Unit
Here we live fully and maximally to our capacity in Suikerbos Retirement Village community.
In Silwer Akker, we build close family bonds between staff and patients with personal care.
All patients have access to a multidisciplinary medical care team including fully trained caregivers.
Silwer Akker patients have full access to all services and amenities as well as outstanding recreational areas.
The care unit currently looks after about 71 patients.

Goue Akker Dementia Care Unit
In Gauteng there is currently a shortage of care for dementia patients, while there is an increase in the population diagnosed.
Given the higher level of care dementia patients require and also our experience with it in the Silwer Akker frail care unit, we have established a specialised dementia care unit where we can provide individual care to seventeen of the patients.
At the Goue Akker:
We create a safe environment that leaves dementia patients' relatives with peace of mind that they are in good hands.
The environment is arranged in such a way as to ensure that the patient remains peaceful, comfortable and functions optimally according to their ability.
We have carers who are specifically trained to look after dementia patients.
We treat all patients according to their cognitive functioning.
We provide tailored holistic care to service the individual patient's needs according to care plans.
We are working with ADASA to meet ADASA standards for care practices.
We offer support groups and training for family members to help with understanding of the patient's condition.

Assisted Living
Here, residents still live independently of family, with support from a team of trained carers.
Caregivers fill acitivies of daily living so the residents can remain independent within their means.
The residents participate with us in activities according to interest.
Residents have easy access to all amenities within the resort.
